So step back in time and take an amazing journey withAncient Science! Table of contents Acknowledgments. I want my kids to know how science was started, and who helped develop some of the modern day advancements in science that we use today. This book is great for teaching the beginnings of science. Measure the earth with Erastothenes, find out just what it was that made Archimedes cry "Eureka!

This is definitely worth owning if you'd like to help your children "see" what the ancient scientists saw. One person found this helpful.

Ancient Science : Jim Wiese :

I purchased this book to utilize with our homeschooling curriculum "Introduction to World History. Each section covers a particular period in history with experiments to compliment the historical setting. I think this book would be OK for a young child that is interested in history and has not done much in the way of hands on science demos.

Being a Good Scientist. Refresh and try again. Its unfortunate because it would have gone well with our study of Ancient Times and the activities appear to be fun and easy, but I can not financially support the author by purchasing this book because of the misleading comments in this book. My daughter has done many of the these activities in other contexts before and is not very interested in doing the others. My 9 yo loves the book. He read it without any "prompt" from my wife or me. Quite an unusual behavior for him. So I was getting ready to purchase this book for my soon to be 2nd grader. I read the first few projects and they are all littered with implied evolution and that events happened millions of years ago and that it took thousands of years for the first man to figure out that a sharp stick pokes holes easier than a dull one.

Ancient Science : 40 Time-Traveling, World-Exploring, History-Making Activities for Kids

Are you kidding me? Any four year old could tell you that a sharp stick is going to poke a hole in something easier than a dull one without ever being formally taught, or perhaps all the children I know are geniuses, because according to this book they should have never been able to figure that out in their lifetime without someone to tell them?

I would love this book if it did not mislead young minds into believing such fairy tales. This should be a factual book and I'm surprised that any Christian curriculum would encourage the purchase of books that do that. Its unfortunate because it would have gone well with our study of Ancient Times and the activities appear to be fun and easy, but I can not financially support the author by purchasing this book because of the misleading comments in this book.
