Bones of the Dragon (Dragonships of Vindras)

Dragonships of Vindras - Wikipedia

So he was "God blessed" when he was born and everyone treated him like so. They spoiled him, let him get away with leaving bastard children and the way he treated people when they did not agree with him was above and beyond awful! I rooted for the bad guys on this one. I wanted him proven wrong, brought down for his behavior and for the people arou I've had this book on my shelf for a while. I wanted him proven wrong, brought down for his behavior and for the people around him to see how they really needed to open their eyes.

They needed to stop allowing him to get away with so many lies just because he was good looking and the "Chief of Chiefs" Even the Gods cut him a lot of slack considering his actions got a lot of people killed and yet he's supposed to be the hero? The way this story is written is the reason I kept reading. I enjoyed the world that was created. The way the Gods were powerful and yet had to fight younger Gods to keep their place seeking help from humans to find the bones of super dragons. It just sucks that the only character I truly liked had to die.

I'm not sure if I will continue on, at least not anytime soon. I'm too upset right now with the main character. I get that maybe the point is to follow him to maturity but the way he's so blind to others feelings, not taking no for an answer and almost forcing himself on the girl he says he loves is just too much This one was good!

Skylan the main character was 'team too much' a lot of the time! He's extremely hot-headed and arrogant. I even screamed at him a few times!

But, oddly enough, I still liked him! I enjoyed reading how the gods were apart of the Vindrashi's everyday life. It was also interesting to see even the gods have their own flaws. They can also fight wars, lose, and die! This brought the gods down to earth. Making them more huma This one was good!

Making them more humanlike than godlike! My favorite character was Wulfe. The young boy, whose actually half fae, had an awesome spirit. I like the way he bounded to Skylan; doing whatever he could to protect him! They should've told Skylan the truth from the beginning! It isn't a fast read, I should point out. But I actually liked that because the authors were about to really explain the world of the Vindrashi!

Sep 06, Victor rated it really liked it. First, I have been reading these authors for a long time. Second, I advise you to read this without reading anything about it. There are plenty of twists and turns. One of the reasons why I liked this book, besides being a fan of Skyrim, is because the main character of the book reminds me of the heroes of mythology, which basically means he is a stupid jerk.

Nevertheless, you want to keep reading just to see what eventually happens to him.

It doe First, I have been reading these authors for a long time. It does not go well. I plan to keep reading this series to see what eventually happens to him. Feb 04, Robin rated it really liked it Shelves: Fascinating compilation of accurate historical facts about Vikings and their gods and goddesses, artfully mixed with all kinds of side stories and back tales, plus the speculative additions of battles between teams of gods your gods beat my gods Ordering the rest of the set now.

Jul 08, Suzy rated it liked it. Enjoyed for the most part. Yes the main Character is immature and selfish BUT I feel this is a set up for development and growth which you can see by the end of the book. I am interested to see how it works out in future books. Liked the world building and Norse-like Mythology. Jan 18, A rated it did not like it. Great read I recommend this for anyone who has enjoyed the authors other works.

Dragons of Autumn Twilight is still my favorite though. Feb 13, Peter E. Frangel rated it it was ok Shelves: Here is a book you really have to be a nerd to want to read, there's no way around it. Dragons, sorcery, ogres, ghosts I'm a nerd, I admit it! But I'll be completely honest when I say that this was one of the most disappointing books I've ever read. No beating around the bush, this book was pretty terrible. But book two, Secret of the Dragon, is coming out this week and I'm going to buy i Here is a book you really have to be a nerd to want to read, there's no way around it.

But book two, Secret of the Dragon, is coming out this week and I'm going to buy it anyways. So I guess this review will have to explain two things: Ogres show up in one of the human villages claiming superiority and demanding submission. I mean come on, nerd or no nerd, that's a pretty good synopsis. But the execution of it was such a miserable failure. Battle scenes where boring, the storyline was totally predictable, the descriptions were choppy, and the characters were difficult to get into.

Characters are a big deal to me, and I found that I didn't like any of the ones in this book. The main character is a moron, completely unlikable and I couldn't have cared less if he'd fallen off a cliff from sheer stupidity at the end of the book. Even the other, secondary characters lacked depth.

I actually found myself skipping paragraphs in this book.

Couldn't handle just finishing sentences that were in front of me. Where I come from that's called blaspheme, but there was no way around it. Chapters became so dull and slow, you could have skipped a good 15 or so pages every now and then without ever missing anything important. Any morals in this story? Anything worth taking back with you into everyday life If you're looking at starting a nerd series, don't start here. If you've heard good things about Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman and wanted to give them a shot, don't read this book. Read the Death Gate Cycle. I've thought not to waste my time trying to read on past the first volume of this highly anticipated series, but I'm going to give the next book a shot anyway.

Well, call it stubborn, but other books from these authors, like Fire Sea or Hand of Chaos have left a taste in my mouth that I still crave every once in a while. The Death Gate Cycle didn't actually get good 'till the end of book two and it didn't get really good until the third book. So, I have hopes for redemption on behalf of this duo. They have the skill, the storyline has potential, if they tighten up a few things here and there, such as character development and description, they might grab my interest again. Feb 22, Kate rated it really liked it.

There is not one likable character in this book. Are they trying to be Game of Thrones? There are no discussion topics on this book yet.

I'm so glad I did, I couldn't put it down! Dragonlance is one of my all time favorite series, and I read it every few years, but as I get older, it gets less engaging, perhaps it's the writing I have to say, I am pleasantly surprised at how riveting this book is.

They all have growing pains, and Skylan is no exception. He's cocky, oblivious, self-righteous, blood thirsty, and chauvinistic.. He's not even as annoying as Haplo was in the beginning of the Death Gate books, and I came to love Haplo except his name.. He's definitely not as annoying as that kid from the Darksword books, boring. Then there's Raistlin, and everyone loved him! Personally, I think this book is the best I've read by them since Dragonlance, and that is my sincere opinion.

See a Problem?

I'm so pleased that they haven't lost their touch, and I anxiously await the coming series. If the characters seem immature and unlike-able The weakest book of the series, but still a great read.
