Please try again later. This volume of Handbook for Ironmongers is the best book ever produced that covers steel and iron manufacture and edged tools, and related areas.

There are entries for a wide range of materials, metals, alloys, and other ferrous structures, including new ones that have not been mentioned by most other engineering and materials books, such as H-1 Stainless Steel that contains high levels of nitrogen that allows it to be nearly completely rust-proof.

A must-read for all students, masters, and interested parties. When I discovered this book I leapt for joy at the oodles and oodles of detailed information in an easy to read format on one of my favorite subjects of all time: Steel and Metallurgy and Cutlery. The author gets deeply into the world of steel and iron work from the most ancient of times until the modern cutting edge.

He even includes information on nanotechnology and nanophase metals and the fact that it has now been proven that the famous "Damascus Steel" received its legendary cutting power from the inclusion of molecular fullerene nanotube and buckyball structures wrapped into the iron matrix.
