Courting Miss Lancaster

I also found myself caring what happened to the main characters, unlike other books which just don't grab me. What I really noticed was at one ball they were at, Eden threw in a character from another book. I believe "Whisper of Hope". The male main character in that book showed up to the ball, and the host of this ball referred to the mysterious absence-from-sight of his wife. I had read Whisper of Hope so I immediately noticed it.

I enjoyed the cranky Duke? It might be "Seeking Persephone. I liked this book of hers much more than "An Unlikely Match. Much Better than First in Series. I loved this book from the opening sentence to the very last page. The only friend of the fabulously wealthy and powerful "Dangerous Duke"of Kielder, Harry jokingly suggests that he act as the duke's "suitor sorter" to relieve the man of the hated task of helping his sister-in-law and ward find a husband on the marriage mart.

Little does the duke know that Harry is already in love with the lovely Athena himself. Knowing that the duke hates fortune hunters, though, the penniless Harry understands that his own suit would never be welcome. How can he sit back and watch the love of his life be courted by others? Athena doesn't know what she wants in a husband and Harry works to help her "eliminate" characteristics one by one by introducing her to less-than-desirable examples of each.

One gentleman has a fascination with trees. Another is more concerned with the cut of his coat than the kindness of his words. One ridiculous encounter after another quickly helps Athena know exactly what type of many she DOESN'T want to marry, but puts her no closer to finding a match.

All the while, she relies on her friend Harry to comfort her, be there for her, to cheer her, and to brighten her days. She is so thankful he is her friend. Or maybe there's more to their relationship? Readers get more of the delightfully rude and powerful Duke of Kielder in this novel. He's much more fun in this book than in the first. I love how potential suitors scatter when he approaches and how he makes them quake in their boots just with a glance.

This book is the sequel to Seeking Persephone. Miss Athena Lancaster is having her first London season with her brother in law, the Duke of Kielder, as her guardian. Since he has no taste society, he enlists he close friend Mr. Harry Windover to help him. What makes the book entertaining and funny are the gentlemen Harry introduces her to.

Feb 16, Stacey rated it liked it. Harry Windover to help him. The usual shenanigans ensue when Harry introduces Athena to all the worse boors and beasts in society. The characters were endearing and I love a good lead man, which Harry did not disappoint. If you have read Sarah Eden then you know exactly what I am talking about! There is talk of a married couple cuddling and giving each other loving looks but nothing that made me feel uncomfortable. What makes the book entertaining and funny are the gentlemen Harry introduces her to.

I would have liked a little more depth to the characters but overall it is a charming and clean read. If you love Jane Austen you'll love this! I really enjoyed the story and the writing was well done. I'm a huge Sarah M. For anyone who loves humor, wit, and a great love story not to mention the Regency era and books like Jane Austen's , this is an absolute must-read. Can't wait for her next one. It took all of one sentence for me to be swept into this story, London, and all that time period entails. Author Sarah Eden has done a thorough job of transporting the reader back in time without burdening her with heavy detail.

It was delightful to revisit some of the characters from Seeking Persephone and to become acquainted with new ones. Harry's efforts and antics are laugh out loud funny, and the romance is enough to make any Jane Austen fan sigh. I hope to see many more regencies by this author.

It had to go down that way, because Harry could not fight for Athena's honor -- Eden is a stickler for following Regency-era societal conventions -- but it created an imbalance in the story. Eden should have devised a different plot, one where Harry could be heroic without raising any brows saving Athena from drowning, perhaps, or from a run-away carriage, a rabid dog I liked Harry more in book 1. In this book, he does a few things that cause me to question his character and his intelligence, as well as his devotion to Athena.

Found it hard to swallow the scene at Athena's ball, when the Duke Adam and the Price Regent engage in a little silent contest for alpha status. Why is there no mention of the oh-so-important ducal heir, the catalyst for Adam and Persephone's marriage??? I also enjoyed the scene in the park, with the vicious Mrs. The sickroom scene was very sweet, where Harry brings violets to feverish Athena -- Adam calls them a bunch of weeds. Two scenes involve young Daphne and Adam.

Hope we see more of Daphne, in a sequel. Recommended, especially for those who loved book 1. Adam and Persephone engage in various delightfully lovin' little scenes. Note, no sex in the series. Only hugs and kisses. I loved the first book in this series, but the Kindle version is almost 3 times the cost of book 2. Maybe it will go on sale. After reading Romancing Daphne I had to go back and read the other books in this series.

Courting Miss Lancaster

I didn't like this one quite as much as Romancing Daphne but it is still a great book! Looking forward to reading the other one in this series. Jun 21, Deborah rated it it was amazing. Eden was put on this earth to be a writer.

I love her books. I just love them. They are clean, fun, witty and everything you need in a sweet romance. It's not just the fact that it all ends with a "happily ever after. I think the reason I loved this one so much was the fact that I adored Harry. I loved how sweet he was. I love the fact that he was kin Sarah M.

I love the fact that he was kind and adoring. I think the reason that I loved their love story so much to was the fact that in a weird way it reminded me of mine. When I met my soul mate it wasn't love at first site. But it was a million little moments that showed me how perfect he was for me.

He is also my Best friend. That is what I saw when I read this. I saw a man who just adored a women and wanted to spend the rest of his life showing her how much he loved her. But was also her best friend. Mar 31, Kate rated it it was amazing. Harry, in love with Athena but too poor to court her, offers to help screen her suitors for her misanthropic brother-in-law, but is certain he ought to persuade her to be pickier so introduces her to less than thrilling suitors.

Much better than the third book. Steamy handholding must be my kink. Apr 17, herdys rated it liked it. This was such a sweet and fluffy book. Not as angsty as the first one but the romance was pretty simple. So happy our dear Harry got his bride! Plus we get to see more of Adam and Persephone and their married life!

Also, Adam and Daphne's interactions were the best! Apr 22, Katie W rated it it was amazing Shelves: What a fun Regency romance!! Athena's indimadating brother-in-law, who happens to be a duke, is in charge of launching her into society. Of course Adam has no interest in doing so, so he forces his best friend, Harry, to weed of the bad ones. Little does Adam know, but Harry is secretly in love with Athena, which makes his job The characters were pure fun!!

Adam is such a tough, grumpy guy, with a secret tender heart; Persephone is so sweet; Harry is hilarious and fun; Athena is a What a fun Regency romance!! Adam is such a tough, grumpy guy, with a secret tender heart; Persephone is so sweet; Harry is hilarious and fun; Athena is a delight as well. And the potential suitors? I thought the author did a terrific job with the characters and the story!! I can't wait to read more of her works. View all 6 comments. May 10, Kristen rated it it was amazing Shelves: They are a go-to clean and romantic read.

They are such great characters!!! It was a little predictable from the get-go but it was fun to see how it all played out. I wish I could get my hands on her other books! Aug 15, Tito rated it really liked it Shelves: I loved Harry and Athena almost as much as Persephone and Adam from the first book, and that's saying a lot.

Well written, cute, and very enjoyable. Sep 05, Heather rated it it was amazing Shelves: It doesn't happen very often, but once in a while I come across a book that I loved so much that I have a hard time getting into my next book. That is what happened after reading Seeking Persephone and then this back to back! I loved them so much. Now I keep starting books and puting them down and try something else because nothing is living up to these two books!

The romance IS the story.

Book Notes: 'Courting Miss Lancaster'

There's nothing rivoting or exciting that happens. If you love Jane Austen style romance but want something where the wording is easier to understand, you'll love this! The characters felt real to me. Usually that annoys me, I want to stay with the current characters and not characters from a previous book, but I guess this never took them off on their OWN story, they were just a part of Athena and Harry's story. I was afraid he would just be this "nice guy" not himself in this book now that his story was over and he's happily married, ect. But he is as grumpy and formidable as ever, and I loved that!!

I was worried I wouldn't because I'm more of a sucker for a "tortured hero", but Harry was tortured in a way you don't see very often in stories. He always put on a joke or a smiley face to cover up his hurt. Can't wait to read these again!! Feb 23, Miss Clark rated it liked it Shelves: This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers. And although it happens frequently in life, it is no less frustrating when you know two people are in love and one person or both, but in this case Harry is well aware of how he feels about Althea is just oblivious.

And not just oblivious, but pining for their love and saying how they ought to make them feel - warm, s 2. And not just oblivious, but pining for their love and saying how they ought to make them feel - warm, safe, comforted, etc. Harry makes me feel happy and safe. Except clearly not him. And Harry's plan of introducing her to all the suitors lacking in the qualities that would make them acceptable to her was so disastrous. It could have been done without such excessive melodrama. But however circuitous a route Althea and Harry took to professing their love and getting engaged, it was very nice to see Persephone and Adam again!

We get to see the outside perspective of their marriage through the eyes of the younger sister and best friend. I thought Adam's friendship with Daphne was very sweet. And I liked how we learned a bit about Harry and Adam's friendship - how Adam paid for Harry's education in secret, etc. So, if you don't mind some romantic silliness, this was enjoyable, esp.

Jan 06, Jen rated it liked it. This is the sequel to Seeking Persephone which I loved. Only this time it's fun loving Harry who is in love with Persephone's sister and has been given the task of finding a suitable match for Athena Persephone's sister. Instead of finding good matches he finds the most awkward, and annoying men because he wants her all for himself. All in all a cute fun read, but not nearly the caliber of Mrs.

Ed This is the sequel to Seeking Persephone which I loved.

Courting Miss Lancaster

Eden's previous book in the series. This was easier to put down. I also have a problem with the females in this Lancaster series.
