Enter Hugh In the far future a mutation develops and humankind is split into Simes and Gens. Enter Hugh, a Gen that must pose as a "companion" to a Channel in order to find his kidnapped love, Aisha. Both Lichtenberg and Lorrah who write books in this series are good storytellers and create characters to care about.

And since this was the first book in the series to be published even if not the first chronologically it makes a good entry into the series. Nicht nur, dass das Cover schrecklich ist und so plump auf 'Sex Sells' setzt, dass es wie ein billiger Groschenroman wirkt, es hat auch nur ganz entfernt irgendwas mit dem Buch zu tun.

House of Zeor

Sep 16, M. Brennan rated it liked it.

Very interesting start to this classic series. It takes some patience to pick up the terminology and references, but all that pays off in a very good way in the last third of the book, where Lichtenberg was really able to start addressing deeper themes and ideas. It really picked up around that point, and this is also a book that really explores the evolution of a friendship and mutual respect between two men from very different cultures who end up truly committed and invested in each other.

I e Very interesting start to this classic series. I ended the book feeling ready to open the next one immediately! Nov 26, Rhode rated it liked it Shelves: Although the two lead characters were a bit annoying, it's the start of such a marvelous series. And the incredible imagination it took to come up with this whole premise, and make it believable! Fun Like a lot of people, I read the first few Zeor books years ago and then lost track of the series. I am delighted to find these again, and more delighted to find myself still intrigued by the Zeor universe.

House of Zeor is a quasi Vampire story, written when Vampire stories were a subculture rather than a mainstream fad. The relationship is closest between channel the quasi vampire like character and donor, closer perhaps than between man and wife, because one requires the other to live. The characters Lichtenberg creates in this book are exquisitely drawn and likable. The theme of opposites predator and prey working together to save an apocalyptic world are rich with promise. A reader can develop a real emotional connection to the characters and the premise, particularly as Klyd the quasi Vampire character begins to fixate on Hugh as a potential if reluctant donor, as the border policeman goes off to rescue his girlfriend, with Klyd's help, from a band of renegades.

And the book has humor at times. In all respects it is well worth a read. The downsides are this is a first novel, so expect occasional clumsiness in mechanics and phrasing in the first few pages. Don't let that turn you off as it is minor and disappears as the author reaches her stride. I think the plot and characterization and dialogue are very good. And while I could never warm up to the hysterical rescue me type female character the heroes need to save, this author can write realistic women, as Yenava, Klyd's wife is one.

And, as you have probably noticed, we have a new, fully functional website! A series that starts during a troubled time and continues into the space age, the authors of these books take us on a journey of excitement, romance and exploration.

The world is now home to two forms of human Lichtenberg and Lorrah are both good writers who can plot solidly, develop interesting and believable people, and keep the story cracking along at a good pace. Both have written other books outside this universe. Looking back, I see I haven't actually reviewed Zelerod's Doom at all, so much as I have reviewed the universe in which it takes place.
