It's a must read for those in business and those who'd like to start their own business. Doesn't matter if you are looking to become a Pampered Chef consultant or you just want to hear the story. It is a very motivating book and very helpful when you are starting your own business, too. I love that Dori's priorities were her family but at the same time she wanted to work.
She did both with great passion and her husband was her greatest supporter. The perfect recipe for success. What I did not like about the book was the long introduction about Doris' whole life. Of course it is very interesting to know who she is, but I was more interested from a business point of view, therefore the personal story was too detailed for my taste. Just imagine yourself in her shoes. Somebody looking for an impossible job. Something she had to create. She then watched it grow and grow, so far so fast. Whew, what a task. I am a consultant myself, and I see us reading a different message in the book than a vivid book reader sees.
Consultant or not this is an awesome book for anybody to read.
I see a self-esteem building in anybody who reads this. Very interesting to read about the humble beginnings of what has grown into a nationally recognized company.
I felt it could've done with some editing, as there were many areas that were repetitious, but otherwise it was a quick and informative read. I also know from personal experience as a PC Consultant that the theories she describes are really in practice with Pampered Chef.
