Crimsons Rose [Blood Lines 3]

Return of the Crimson Rose
[NotElswordKR] 3rd Jobs, What Changed? Crimson Rose - Black Massacre

Morgan knew a thing or two about that, but he was fighting for more than survival. He was fighting for his mate. He glanced at Gina. The warmth and assurance he saw in her hazel eyes fueled his conviction. He fell to his knees and coughed. His blunt teeth tumbled out of his mouth onto the ground, before quickly being replaced with razor sharp canines. He let out a pained scream that fractured into a howl, as he became more wolf than man.

The second the change was complete, Morgan took off toward the alpha, ignoring the rest of the pack. If he could take down the leader, the others would fall. He was counting on Demery to protect Gina no matter the outcome of the fight. Morgan tackled the alpha. The impact sent them tumbling end over end. Before he could latch on, the hybrid struggled free and leapt to its feet. The animal yelped, releasing him in the process and jerked its head away. Blood ran down the side of its face as it licked the bits of flesh from its teeth.

The fur on its back rose higher and its tail stiffened, then the animal attacked again. This time Morgan was ready for it. He felt the impact and allowed it to carry him over so he could roll the canine beneath him. Blood poured into his mouth. The coppery aroma filled his lungs, making him…hungry. Despite his instant revulsion, Morgan swallowed the warm, tempting liquid. The sweet taste hit his system like a laser blast to the gut.

A sharp rush of power followed it.

See a Problem?

The feeling spread through him until his body trembled from the onslaught. What was happening to him? He had lived with his wolf through war, loss, and pain. His feral nature was as natural to him as breathing. His wolf was what kept him bound to Gina. Without his wolf, who was he? The animal stopped struggling beneath him and tucked its tail between its legs.

Feb 06, Cyndy Otty rated it did not like it Shelves: Crimson Rose is one of those tragic books for me; one that I desperately tried to enjoy far more than I did. This is no doubt at least partially due to the author's generous gift of a free copy and only serves to make me feel that my lack of enthusiasm regarding the book is downright cruel. Not to say that it is essentially a terrible novel because it really isn't; Malone's crafted world manages to put a surprisingly fresh spin on a mythos that's been explored by countless others.

Her characters Crimson Rose is one of those tragic books for me; one that I desperately tried to enjoy far more than I did. Her characters are, for the most part, full of wonder and spark much interest in a reader. The story itself is especially intoxicating. The downfall for me is that try as I might, I could not get beyond the editorial problems within the book and these truly hindered my personal enjoyment. The narrative of this novel starts off maddeningly slow and once it does get off the ground it comes off as a soap opera which only served to distance me from the events transpiring.

Except the amusing thing is that this very set of issues is what kept me reading! Like an unwilling witness to a train wreck, the more out of place things became the more I felt compelled to continue. Many scenes that had the potential to be poignant or dynamic felt clumsy due to the repetitive nature of the vocabulary used. Aside from the specifics of the storytelling, the stumbling block for me was the characterization or lack thereof in some cases. Often I found myself completely bewildered by Rose as she was thrust into various situations; I found myself anticipating a severe emotional reaction where instead she would take things perfectly in stride.

Her world is turned upside-down time and again, her beliefs challenged repeatedly and through it all she steadfastly remains convinced of a seemingly impossible truth that Stefan is the perfect man for her. Meanwhile, Stefan himself is a complete enigma for me. Throughout the novel he showcases his ruthless and callous attitude and by the end he is basically redeemed without any evident changes to his core being. Yet, for all of its shortcomings, I can't entirely dislike this book. While, I was disappointed in the execution, I found myself deeply invested in the story and truly curious to see how the events would unfold.

Still, the sad fact is, I sincerely believe this book could have used some further polishing before being published. View all 17 comments. One night after shopping for some ice cream, she loses her locket only to have a beautiful, stunning man return it to her. Shaken, Rose brushes off the encounter, only to have her own son tell her Stefan has been visiting him at times of night and scaring him out of his wits. And having a bloody roses been left at her window. But when the demons from his past and his own selfish behavior forces him to choose, Stefan will do what it takes give all he has to have Rose by his side forever. The rich and beautiful details give it at times a dreamy tone.

The bitterness Rose faces after losing her husband then being with a abusive boyfriend. Rose is confused and with good reason and the animal vampire Stefan has become to what she starts to see deeper in his once cold heart. I liked Rose, she had very normal reactions to the events around her, and while at times I wanted to smack her upside the head for the choices she made and getting herself in unnecessary trouble, and her denial, it only showed the facts, that Rose was just human that would make very human mistakes.

I really loved Stefan, as he reminded me of the old school vampires, that were cold and awaken with love. Stefan grew into being a human being again, and that was one of the greatness and brightest points in CR.

Return of the Crimson Rose

Along with the misunderstandings and the urge to smack the characters , CR pace was slow in the beginning, and did drag a little toward the middle of the book. This did take my overall rating down, but the book drew me in and held me until the very last page. CR held many great twist and turns and some surprises that knocked me for a loop, I had to keep reading to find out what happen next!

I thought this book was going to be sweet and romantic, but it wasn't. I had a hard time getting through it, the hero and the heroine in this book made me want to scream. I don't understand how a woman can be raped, not once but multiple times, giving her two children with the man and deciding that she is going to stay with him because somewhere in the middle of all the rape and holding her prisoner she fell in love.

Then you have the man, aka I don't really know where to begin. Then you have the man, aka the rapist, who starts to stalk this woman because she looks like a woman from his past. Thus, he believes that he is inlove with her because of it.
