Finn reveals dreams for a different life. Sadie wants to save her marriage. Their secrets should keep them apart, not ignite a blistering affair.

But while Sadie's marriage runs colder by the day, she and Finn burn hotter. Slip of the Tongue is a standalone forbidden romance. Please note it contains adultery themes that may be triggers for some people. This took me well over a week to read because I had to keep putting it down out of complete frustration with Sadie and the decisions she made.

I am a firm believer in turning inwards to your husband if you are unhappy in your marriage, not outside of it. However, there were many bad decisions made by all involved in this story. Sadie has been married to Nathan for seven years and it would be fair to say that they are deeply in love. Nathan put his wife on a pedestal from the moment their relationship begun and Sadie has become accustomed to receiving this attention from him.

Everything he does is with her in mind, he always puts her needs before his. This is the crux of the beginning of their problems. When Nathan discovers something about their relationship that she has kept hidden from him, he completely closes himself off from Sadie. He does this for over two months. For the first time in their relationship she feels alone and insignificant. No matter what she says or does she cannot get Nathan to open up to her. When a new neighbour moves into their building things begin to unravel more. Finn is sweet, handsome and really easy to talk to. Nathan may be shutting Sadie out but Finn is willingly letting her into his life.

There were a lot of moments when I was reading this that I stopped because I was unhappy with the storyline and also at times I was reflecting on my own relationship with my husband, who also treats me the way Nathan is with Sadie. I even asked my husband if he thought I was lazy and if he felt like I took him for granted, the answer was 'no babe' by the way!

I guess this could happen to any couple in any marriage. I really loved Nathan, he was such a sweet man who was struggling to deal with the way his wife had deceived him.

I did not think for one moment that he had stopped loving Sadie, he was just trying to deal. I found Sadie very self centred and hard to like as a female character. I completely understood her frustration about her husband not opening up to her and how rejected she felt, after spending seven years being adored by him. I thought that Finn was a really nice guy and that in another time he and Sadie could have been meant for each other. However, I also felt like he should have stepped back, knowing how vulnerable Sadie was when she met him.

He could have been a good friend to Sadie but he was relentless in his pursuit of her, never considering how it would affect anyone else. In the end, someone's heart will be broken and all the lies will come to light. I found this a very thought provoking read. What did you like best about Slip of the Tongue? What did you like least? This is a hard book to review because I don't want to give any spoilers.

I can't say what I liked most and what I liked least, it will give the entire book away. I will say, I do not like the title of the book.

Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner Series

For seven years Sadie has been put on a pedestal by her loving doting husband Nathan and then he stops, he goes out, comes home late, won't talk about what's wrong and Sadie is helpless, sad and eventually suspicious. As strong as she thought her marriage was, it's been broken for two miserable months and now Finn, and all his bold declarations, prove to be a very powerful temptation This story is a heartbreaking account of two people whose soul deep love is tested to its breaking point Nathan's a tortured soul, he's a 'perfect person' but his inability to talk things over with Sadie and clear the air between them, is the catalyst that weakens their marriage.

Does it destroy them? Well, Finn is in the picture now, he too has a sad tale to tell It's an emotional and powerful glimpse into a solid beautiful marriage that suddenly and unexpectedly reaches a crisis and, instead of leaning on each other for the answers, they both lean the other way. I'm not going to preach on the morals, decisions or broken promises that cheating elicits I just couldn't stop this knife-edge listen until I knew the damage, the casualties and the bitter-sweet outcome. Told from Sadie's POV, there's passion, beautiful heartfelt words, some frenzied stolen sex scenes and the narrator was good.

It depends - if you feel strongly for whatever reason about cheating and infidelity then definitely no it's not for you - but if you're easier and more comfortable about listening to this type of scenario then absolutely yes I am so confused about my feeling on this book, It took me 2 days to finally feel like I could write an honest review.

In the beginning I was getting extremely annoyed because if this couple had just talked to each other then there wouldn't have been so much drama. But then again the more I got to know each character the more I understood their actions. I ended up loving them all and not wanting anyone to get hurt. I think Sadie and Nathan spent too much time thinking their marriage had to be perfect that they let that come between them.

Saying this book has cheating isn't really giving a spoiler since it's in the synopsis but for the first time ever, this author made an affair make sense to me. Not that I agree with it but I can understand how it happened. All in all this book hit all of my emotions - anger, annoyance, sadness, lust, love and happiness. The narration was amazing, which come on It's Andi Arndt of course it was amazing! This was my first book by Jessica Hawkins.

The story was so engaging I could not stop listening to it. The narrator Andi Arndt is still amazing as ever. I have listen to countless stories told by here and they give me goosebumps because she is so amazing at becoming the characters in the story. This is a heavy , emotionally satisfying story full of love, lust, drama and wonder on what will happen next. It was an enjoyable story to listen to and I would recommend it! I can't say more or I'll start giving the story away.

But take a chance and pick it up you won't be sorry!

As the story progresses we learn that the character,Sadie is really just a selfish cheater. The husband who is acting in classic cheater behavior is explained away by silly reasons. The husband isn't even really mad after finding out his wife cheated, the other man and the husband just pander to this selfish loser Sadie as if she's a real gem and the only woman out there. The resolution shows no real character growth for her and the cuckholded husband acts like he's learned his lesson to not push away but rather worship his adulterous wife.

The heroine went through virtually no personal growth or transformation despite being selfish, disloyal and unfaithful. It was kinda stupid. The sex scenes were decent but the overall story was just kinda lacking for me. And the end was pretty blah as was Nathan's reaction to the affair. It was just kinda weak and lacking a little for me personally.

I really have mixed emotions on this audiobook. The story was about adultery and I had a hard time connecting with the heroine, as she seemed very distant, cold and selfish. The man who is her husband has been withdrawn for only two months and it seems like when she's not the center of his universe she cheats so easily.

The man she cheats with doesn't seem to have a conscience about getting her to cheat on her husband either. I did like the character of her husband, and understand why he was distant since she kept a huge secret.

Breakfast, Lunch, & Dinner w/ Clarissa Dickson Wright: 03 Dinner

The saving grace for this audiobook was the narration, as Andi Arndt can narrate anything and make it good! I did not like Sadie's character. I found her character to be selfish and I was shaking my head at her actions several times as I listened. Overall, the book was good. Cut up the rabbit or fowl into small joints, and slightly brown them; put in the fried onions, the garlic, and stock, and simmer gently till the meat is tender; skim very carefully, and when the meat is done, rub the curry powder to a smooth batter.

Add it to the soup with the almonds, which must be first pounded with a little of the stock. Put in seasoning and lemon-pickle or mango-juice to taste, and serve boiled rice with it. Sufficient for 8 persons. This soup can also be made with breast of veal, or calf's head. Vegetable Mullagatawny is made with veal stock by boiling and pulping chopped vegetable marrow, cucumbers, onions, and tomatoes, and seasoning with curry powder and cayenne. Nice pieces of meat, good curry powder, and strong stock, are necessary to make this soup good.

Haunch of mutton, a little salt, flour. Let this joint hang as long as possible without becoming tainted, and while hanging dust flour over it, which keeps off the flies, and prevents the air from getting to it. If not well hung, the joint, when it comes to table, will neither do credit to the butcher or the cook, as it will not be tender. Wash the outside well, lest it should have a bad flavor from keeping; then flour it and put it down to a nice brisk fire, at some distance, so that it may gradually warm through.

Sprinkle a little fine salt over the meat, pour off the dripping, add a little boiling water slightly salted, and strain this over the joint. Place a paper ruche on the bone, and send red-currant jelly and gravy in a tureen to table with it. In best season from September to March. Sufficient for 8 to 10 persons. Turkey; forcemeat see below. Hen turkeys are preferable for boiling, on account of their whiteness and tenderness, and one of moderate size should be selected, as a large one is not suitable for this mode of cooking.

They should not be dressed until they have been killed 3 or 4 days, as they will neither look white, nor will they be tender. Pluck the bird, carefully draw, and singe it with a piece of white paper - wash it inside and out, and wipe it thoroughly dry with a cloth. Cut off the head and neck, draw the strings or sinews of the thighs and cut off the legs at the first joint; draw the legs into the body, fill the breast with forcemeat; run a skewer through the wing and the middle joint of the leg, quite into the leg and wing on the opposite side; break the breastbone, and make the bird look as round and as compact as possible.

Put the turkey into sufficient hot water to cover it; let it come to a boil, then carefully remove all the scum: Boiled ham, bacon, tongue, or pickled pork, should always accompany this dish; and when oyster sauce is served, the turkey should be stuffed with oyster forcemeat. Seasonable from December to February.

Sufficient for 7 or 8 persons. Shred the ham or bacon, chop the suet, lemon-peel, and herbs, taking particular care that all be very finely minced; add a seasoning to taste of salt, cayenne, and mace, and blend all thoroughly together with the bread crumbs, before wetting. Now beat and strain the eggs, work these up with the other ingredients, and the forcemeat will be ready for use. As we have stated before, no one flavor should predominate greatly, and the forcemeat should be of sufficient body to cut with a knife, and yet not dry and heavy.

For very delicate forcemeat, it is advisable to pound the ingredients together before binding with the egg; but for ordinary cooking, mincing very finely answers the purpose. Sufficient for a turkey, a moderate-sized fillet of veal, or a hare. In choosing a tongue, ascertain how long it has been dried or pickled, and select one with a smooth skin, which denotes its being young and tender. If a dried one, and rather hard, soak it at least for 12 hours previous to cooking it; if, however, it is fresh from the pickle, 2 or 3 hours will be sufficient for it to remain in soak.

Put the tongue into a stewpan with plenty of cold water and a bunch of savory herbs; let it gradually come to a boil, skim well, and simmer very gently until tender. Peel off the skin, garnish with tufts of cauliflower or Brussels sprouts, and serve. Boiled tongue is frequently sent to table with boiled poultry, instead of ham, and is, by many persons, preferred. If to serve cold, peel it, fasten it down to a piece of board by sticking a fork through the root, and another through the top, to straighten it.

When cold, glaze it, and put a paper ruche round the root, and garnish with tufts of parsley. Seasonable at any time. Old pheasants may be known by the length and sharpness of their spurs; in young ones they are short and blunt.
