This was the first expedition that Abel Tasman had and the place that was called Van Diemen's Land is now called Tasmania. My thoughts on this book: I enjoyed this novel, I found it to be well written and I liked how the characters were portrayed especially Aidan as very strong willed women who knew what she wanted to do in her life and fought to get it.

The story was well researched and was easy to read. The only problem I had was that this is book 2 in the series and as I had not read 1,some things didn't make sense. I will definitely read more of this author. I highly recommend it. Mar 02, Jerry rated it really liked it. Angela Elwell Hunt continues her multiple-era historical saga of Cahira O'Connor's standard-defying female descendants with The Golden Cross , part two of a trilogy. It actually works quite well; although it did take me longer than usual to finish it, it was just as engaging and engrossing as the first volume in the series.

You don't really have to even read part one to understand part two, although the prologue may seem slightly confusing. In short, if you're looking for a good Christian historical fiction book to read, give this a try. Feb 08, Carol rated it it was amazing. The Golden Cross by Hunt, Angela Elwell

The historic part of the book was interesting without being all consuming. It was an adventurous sea voyage of discovery, with a daring twist. She discovers her ability, love and truth about surrendering to God. I wasn't sure what to expect from this one.

It seemed like another sappy Christian romance, but once I got into it, it was somewhat compelling. I liked the characters and the story line was fairly easy to follow and somewhat predictable. The historical aspect about the early days of cartography and the mapping of the globe was interesting. It's a light, easy read, but nothing stellar. I liked the characters and it was a nice diversion.

This is the second of the Heirs of Cahira O'Connor series. I h I wasn't sure what to expect from this one. I have not read the first one, The Silver Sword.
