It was interesting to read about the creative and recording process behind all of these great albums that I've grow up with; and also a little of Tori's history - although this is by no means a biography, and really focuses on her music. I also found it quite inspiring to hear about her creativity and how it comes quite organically; and even the times early on in her career when she doubted whether she was doing the right thing, and decided to go with her own flow, and stuff it if no one likes what she's doing.

I would have also liked to have read something about the thoughts behind all the artwork and videos she's done for these albums, but I guess that was outside of the scope of this book. It starts from the year dot and goes up to Midwinter GRaces. So Night of the Hunters isn't included - but to be fair, you can only write a book like this about what exists at the time.

About the book "Tori Amos: In the Studio"

He's spoken to some of the musicians and producers she has worked with over time, but he sadly hasn't interviewed Tori for this book, which would have been fantastic. It seems that he's read every single news article and interview with, and pulled together all this wealth of information together very well into one book.

Although occasionally it felt like it was riding on the back of other people's work. Frequently the flow of the text is interupted with names of publications and dates where he's taken his quotes from.

Said Tori in to Music Magazine, " So I don't think this is ever going to be the definitive book on Tori, but it's definately worth a look if you like her music. Pretty much all the interviews and quotes from Tori herself were not done directly for this book though, but most of the other people as I mentioned above are done especially for this book.

Got a little too technical at times, but Brown does a good job of synthesizing research to provide a comprehensive exposition into how each of Tori's albums were created, composed, and mastered.
