He believes that outside the house is outer space which is the reason he only stays inside. Unfortunately, inside his house are space aliens disguised as flies and other bugs that threaten the welfare of his humans. Binky is an expert at combating the aliens by enthusiastically eating each one - crunch crunch! He spends his spare time secretly building a "Binky the Space Cat" is a really fun book that adults would enjoy as much as kids.

He spends his spare time secretly building a rocket ship in his litter box and doing research. He has a list of "Things I Know" and 3 was my favorite: Mar 27, Meg rated it it was amazing Shelves: It's the story of a domestic cat who earns his Space Cat Certification and trains to battle aliens in space. And yes, it's hysterical and awesome.

The humor is so well tied in between illustrations and text that adult readers will enjoy this one too. Perhaps a good suggestion for all of those kids who request tween "sci-fi" at my library. Sooooo the thing is, I probably would have totally enjoyed this if I'd read it when it first came out. But in the mean time, CatStronauts: Mission Moon happened, and the cats actually go to space and are adorable and so many puns, and this one just seems so pale in comparison. But as Stone is the best pilot the military has, he's given a lot of leeway. What a cute, fun book that even as an adult I thoroughly enjoyed. Books by Ashley Spires.

Throw in a science fiction element and I'm intrigued. Add a graphic novel format and you've got me hooked. Binky is a housecat who believes he is destined to become a spacecat after receiving an acceptance letter to F.

I wonder if Binky may have seen some of the movie Starship Troopers, since I've rarely found a cat story that I won't read. I wonder if Binky may have seen some of the movie Starship Troopers, since he seems convinced that bugs are aliens. He's all ready to blast into space, but will he really leave home? The wry humor and cat peculiarities shown will appeal to teens and adults. Normally I'm not a fan of fart I'm looking at you - Walter! Binky should attract second and third graders reluctant to jump into chapter books, as well as older readers who love cats or the graphic novel format.

He builds a space ship so that he can fly to the far reaches of the universe in order to battle these creatures in their home territory I loved this book - it's a cute story with a cuter character.

Binky is adorable throughout the book, whether he's wearing his little half-moon spectacles or tooting because the crunchy aliens gave him space-gas. The only problem I had with the book was the inconsistency in Binky's intelligence: He's smart enough to build a rocket ship, but not smart enough to realize that bugs aren't really aliens, and that he's really on Earth - not outer space. I also wish Spires had used more vibrant colors - she uses primarily muted tones, but I think a brighter, more varied palette would have given the book more punch.

I usually find them irritating to read aloud because I have to point to where I'm reading so he can see which picture the text is for. But this was so funny, I didn't mind. Binky has never been outside and thinks everything outside the house is outer space.
