After nearly getting knocked down by her at the elevator, Josh took her to a tavern where they enjoyed each other's company over drinks and even though he didn't remember much the next day, the fact remained that he still wanted to marry her but when Raven suddenly disappears the next day, he put his power, authority, and money into locating her and what he found out, only terrified him more.
Raven Anderson couldn't get Josh off her mind. He was outragiously handsome and sinfully sexy, with alluring beautiful blue eyes that made her toes curl. What is wrong with me? She also knew, if she wasn't careful, she could easily fall in love with him, that is, if she wasn't already there. He was everything there was to offer but with her job being so dangerous, she would have to stay far away from Josh for his own protection.
After discovering that Raven was involved with alleged criminal types criminal types including prostitution, white slavery, fraud, grand theft, and terrorism, Josh was not only mystified, but he refused to believe any of it, until he could confront Raven once again, and ask her himself. With his authority,, power, contacts, and money, Josh made a vow and an oath that he will have to protect Raven at all costs.
But Josh knew deep in his heart that Raven had deep seeded secrets. But what were they? Or who was she so afraid of? And should he confront her with the truth? Refusing to believe in the worst possible scenario, Josh still wanted to have faith in Raven, seek her out, and prove to the world that she was innocent once and for all.
But when they both find passion in one another's enbrace, nothing could prepare him of what happened next. Will the truth bring them closer together or drive them further apart? The door to the flats doesn't appear to have been forced. I have all Kay Hooper books in paperback and now have all on Kindle. Hosani remained where he was, still in a state of terror, believing he was about to die. She is a great author and offers a light romantic reading with this series. It looks like Hosani's schemes are pretty close to completion. He returned to the driver's seat and was just about to start the vehicle when the sound of police sirens reached his ears.
These are not complex situations or characters but they are enjoyable. I can read this book quickly and I never fail to enjoy the story. A man who needs control, Raven shakes the foundations of his life. Raven is a woman with dark secrets and Josh fears that he is falling in love with a woman who appears to be all that he could ever want but perhaps is only a mirage. Love, love, love this book. It is silly and sweet and has a simple plot but I have always loved the characters. Truly, these characters are too simple for some.
Josh is incredibly rich, smart and talented. He is so squeaky clean and noble. Raven appears to be sweet and innocent but might be hiding some very bad things about herself. The story is quick, but the romance is allowed to develop well. This book isn't for those looking for deep dark complex romances. I like those too, but this one is like eating candy -- sweet.
I also like the sense of fun in this book. Although it deals with dark subjects, it never delves deep into those stories and thus the book always stays light and fun. I have enjoyed this book for years and read it multiple times. I love the characters and their romance is so incredibly satisfying that I never fail to enjoy the short ride. This book was originally published as a category romance which means that it had a specified length and limits on its content. It is sometimes listed as book two although this book is the first one that starts the overarching story concerning Hagen and his machinations against Long and his friends.

You almost have to read this one, if you happen to miss any of the others because the herione "Raven" is in pretty much every one of the stories in this Series. She and her boy friend soon to be husband Josh will feature in all the rest of the books. If you read my review for Serena's Web then you know about this one. I have all Kay Hooper books in paperback and now have all on Kindle. She is one of the greatest authors I have ever read! Th I s book is part of a series and I recommend everyone to the series.
This is one of my favorite authors with the best series.
I have bought everyone in this series and can't find any thing bad to say. I'm always looking forward to the next. I think three stars is generous for this book, which I couldn't even finish, but I love Kay Hooper so I'm giving an extra star just as a fan. This is one of her early books that is being re-released and let's just say, she has improved in her writing a great deal over time.
None of the characters in this book were at all believable and there wasn't enough background to make a real story. I'm a real fan of this author but this book was not for me.
