His second in command, Vaish, is a little too cold and sarcastic for his taste, but who cares about little details like that when a naked blue woman with big boobs reports for service.

    Said big blue breasts are so enthralling that Steven doesn't even care about his AI's objections that the new officer was supposed to be a human male. So begins "Farthest Space: The Wrath of Jan," and the rest of the book moves on in a humorous fashion that Steven McNeill is the Captain of a really nice spaceship. The Wrath of Jan," and the rest of the book moves on in a humorous fashion that made me giggle. The material contains very obvious hints to both "Star Trek" and to the "Hitch Hiker's Guide to the Galaxy," and they're at times a little too obvious for my taste.

    It's nice to see things one recognizes to a certain extent, but to me it would have been funnier if the author, for example, had invented her own hilarious drink name instead of "borrowing" one. These things are very subjective though, it works the way it is, and my not liking it doesn't mean that the story isn't good. There are large amounts of sex in the book, I don't think there's one page not referring to it in one way or another, and if you're sensitive to this, you should read something else.

    Parts of it are hilarious and add to the story, other parts seem to be there just to have it there, and I would personally have preferred to have the last long sex-scene replaced with more elaboration on the action. Again, this is very subjective, and I'm sure many readers will love it the way it is.

    I had honestly forgotten that I'd bought this book, and I found it when I was cleaning up the booklist in my Kindle-app. After browsing through the first pages I decided to read it, and it turned out to be a pleasant surprise. Farthest Space is mentioned in several of Ms. Fisher's other works as a popular sci-fi TV show, so when I saw this book, I was looking forward to experiencing one of the "episodes.
