For the most part Elyse say's it's all a matter of taste and to buy what you like. Elyse says you don't have to spend a lot to get a great tasting wine.

She shows you how to read a wine label, discusses corks or screw tops, which wines need to breath, correct temperatures for serving, which wines to serve with fish or beef and so much more in the fabulous book! You don't have to have a lot of dinner parties to enjoy a good wine for yourself.

You may be an everyday homemaker like myself who likes to sit back with a good book and a glass of wine to relax. Put this book on your wish list and pick up copies for those you know who love wines. It's filled with great information that can make the simplest of us look like connoisseurs. Keep this one in the kitchen with your recipe books to have on hand!

I realize it's supposed to be a guide for good, cheap wines but honestly? Kami Hall rated it it was ok Feb 13, This book was ok. It's a great addition to any kitchen or bar.

I loved reading it and am now off to try some new wines! Elyse has been a featured auctioneer at "A Toast To Women In Wine", a partnership with Wine Spectator magazine to host the nation's premier celebration of female winemakers and fine cuisine. Elyse formerly on the staff of Christie's is an appraiser in popular culture and was a regular on the tv program "Antiques Roadshow". I've watched and admired Elyse Luray on these shows and have been impressed with her knowledge and research skills. I give this a 5 star rating for the easy read, simple to use guide book to have on hand in every kitchen.

I always feel out of my element when I'm out at a great restaurant or with friends on choosing, so I usually let them. Elyse has a great color-coded index that helps you pair wine with a meal. It couldn't be easier!! When I was at a corporate event a few months ago, we were to choose our wine with our meal. I cri I'm not good with wine. I cringed at the prices!! Seriously, twenty-three dollars a glass!!! I love a great red wine, but I couldn't afford a bottle of that on my budget, let alone a glass.

Fortunately, now I don't have to.
