The case does scratch pick up white paint marks easily, so beware of knocking it against the wall, but then again, this is a common problem with many cases. The inside is very soft and just what I would hope for in a case.
The little pocket compartment which lies under the neck of the instrument is just big enough to fit my spare strings, pick, and a crumpled ball of music. However, my tuner doesn't quite fit in there comfortably. THe pictured case does not look exactly like the one that arrives. The pictured case looks like it has a long neck and nearly an oval body, whereas the case that arrived was much nicer. It had sturdy silver buckles that didn't look so industrial as do the pictured ones do and it had a shorter neck and rounder body.
It fit my mandolin excellently, but I just wanted to mention how the pictured one is not what I received. So if the Mandolin Store thought it was the best case to send, it really must be!
Bought an inexpensive Rogue Mandolin form Musician's Friend to learn on and needed a case for it. Took four days from the time I ordered it until I got it. The case is sturdy and well lined. The Mandolin was a tight fit at first but after inserting it a few times into the case it became a nice snug fit.
The case hardware is solid and the lock works perfectly. The fit will keep the mandolin from being banged up in transport and the exterior is sturdy enough to drop it without damage to the instrument. It will probably be around when I learn to play well enough to buy a good Mandolin. The interior is covered with a deep soft plush so it feels like your mando will be cozy and warm. The outside is sturdy enough for regular transport but I'd certainly recommend a stronger more expensive case if you are touring or traveling a lot.
Only problem for us was that our mandolin a Kentucky KM didn't fit The way the neck bends back or something made it too high to close and latch the case, so we ended up trading for a different case that fits better. Bought this to go with a A-style mandolin I bought for my girlfriend's upcoming birthday.
The mandolin fits in there perfectly. There's also a little compartment, underneath where the neck lies on, where you can store your picks and a tuner in.
It also comes with 2 keys for the locking latch. Another reviewer mentioned that the handle is kinda awkward, I do agree with that but it's not a deal breaker. This is a solid, well-made case. It is well worth the money. I was also very pleased with the quality and the quick shipping. I ordered on Monday and received it by Friday! The only thing that was not as I expected was my fault.
I came into a Martin A Style mandolin and needed a case. Being new to the mandolin, I assumed all A Style mandolins were the same size My Martin is on the small side. Front-to-back is a good fit. But, there is room at the bottom of the body in the case which I will fill with a rolled hand towel. Otherwise, it works just fine.
I will keep it since I normally keep a cloth to wipe down my instruments anyway. Be smarter than me and check your mandolin's measurements. I am giving this item a 3 out of 5 because it is a very nice case for the money, but neither of my two A-style mando's fit inside without forcing them in. I am worried about leaving the mandolin in the case because I do not know if the pressure of squeezing it in there could cause the seems to crack.
