My balcony looks something like that just with a grill and table. We water it once a day. It's too late now to plant so I'd wait until next spring. OP could ask the neighbor girls for advice. We got to talking, one thing led to another, and I ended up sticking my thumb up her ass! Annuals aren't very expensive. Just water them and they grow like crazy all summer.
Perrenials aren't very expensive either. Hell, if you volunteer a few times at a local garden or a botanical garden they often let you take cuttings If you're having trouble establishing cuttings you can give them some hormones like Cytokinens or Gibberelins to speed things up for potting. The dude who lived in my apartment before me worked in horticulture. People would give him their "dead" plants all the time and he would nurse them back to life.
He only left a couple behind when he moved out but the downside is that the tops of all the cupboards still are covered in dead plant bits and I don't have a ladder so I can clear them off Just buy a few seasonal flags, get one for Halloween, get one for thanksgiving, And christmas. My roommates and I would zip tie them to our balcony and change them with the seasons, I think we had one for every holiday and when there wasn't any holidays we would just use an American flag and our college flag.
Big dollar stores often have bamboo mats. They're thin but they work great. Lmao, my friend has a very similar setup but with large leafy plants Not hard at all, really. Rain would drip from the upper balcony to water the plants or you water them yourself, which can't take more than a minute. I can't see setting up the plants and re-potting them from the store containers taking more than an hour or two,. That's a bargain right there. Eh, I like plants. My back patio is covered in tomato and zucchini plants.
I am male and straight. My entire back patio is covered with various plants. Picture of a few of them. I have rose bush just so I don't have to buy girls flowers from the florist. My rose bush is pretty full.
I am one too, and I have tomatoes, strawberries and some roses to make the balcony smell good. Yeah, but there's no shortage of oxygen in my house, whereas I regularly have to go out and acquire more herbs, carrots, lettuce and so on. Miss sex once in a while but generally enjoy my privacy more, and fill any lingering emotional void by talking to camgirls, probably. I met a guy in college who kept plants in his on-campus apartment and it was the most impressed I've ever been. Aloe in a dorm room? Are you kidding me?

I thought it was a barber's chair You won't be doing basil though, which I argue is one of my favorites. I'm not sure what the fall winter is there, so not sure on outside. That apartment smells like gym bags and dirty laundry. In the meantime, upstairs still looks the same. I took damn good care of that plant. Truth be told, I was kind of sad when I left the plant. I have an aquarium filled with aquatic plants, and it's very fulfilling.

OK, I'll elaborate instead! Balconies , Next Floor Neighbors. Then we went back to the house and had cake and ice cream. I put these magazine pictures on the wall, and I asked the girls to take a look at them. Then we watched the Dove Evolution video , which I just love. The girls were shocked to see how different the woman looks on the billboard than she does in real life. I shared my own stories about times I have felt insecure about my image.
How in highschool, I simply did not leave the house without a ton of makeup on. We ended the discussion with some statements about what real beauty is. I felt really good about how the evening went. So sad… sweet potatoes are one of my favourite vegetables! We tossed them in olive oil and sea salt and baked them for 40 minutes. We ate them with ketchup and they were gone almost as fast as the chocolate macaroons last week!
It was exciting for them to see! Then I crumpled it up, opened it and asked if it was still worth the same and if they still wanted it. I just hope that someday in the future they will remember this lesson and know that they are always valuable and worth so much. I made a little question box so they could ask questions in an anonymous way by writing on little slips of paper.
I was thinking they might have questions about being a girl — how our bodies change, etc. Or maybe about friends and situations. I love making collages and they seemed to enjoy it too when we made our journals. It was a good meeting — there were lots of laughs as the girls all squished onto the stairs and ate cookies.
I had nine wonderful girls at my house last night. Since five has been the average so far, it was a little more hectic, but still great. The theme of the night was being trustworthy. We spent time talking about how it feels to trust someone and how it feels to be trusted. At the beginning of the night we planted flowers from seed. I split the girls into two groups. One went onto the balcony and planted while the other designed covers for their pots.
I know the girls loved it because they wanted to play it again! Finally, we had a snack, which they devoured. I made chocolate macaroons aka haystacks using a recipe my mother often made and still makes! They asked for the recipe, so we wrote it down in our journals. After the girls had left and Lucy and I cleaned up thank goodness she loves cookie crumbs , I put the pots on my window sill and admired their designs.
As the girls arrived, I handed out their journals that I had written in since the last meeting. Initially I had planned to let the girls write what they learned each week, but Sandy creator of Balcony Girls commented in her guide that she tried this approach and it took up too much time. Before getting into the lesson we made Five Cup Salad a childhood favourite and wrote the recipe in our journals.
I introduced the gossip topic by presenting the girls with a tube of toothpaste. I asked each of them to squeeze some onto their finger. They found it to be very difficult! Our words are like toothpaste: We had a very good discussion about gossip — what it is, how it makes us feel, why people do it, and what we should do if someone starts talking badly about someone. I shared a story of a rumour that was spread about me in grade 8 that made me feel terrible. I also gave an example of a time I stood up for someone, and how good that felt! People listen to what you say!
Point out positive, truthful things — elevate each other in the friend chain!
Being positive is addictive, so start something by being an example to others! I had six girls at my house this evening — well, eight, if you include me and Lucy!
We had such a great time! The evening consisted of a role play activity where each girl took a turn standing on a stage the couch and pretended she had just finished delivering an amazing performance of some sort. The girls in the audience would then applaud and cheer loudly. We talked about how good it felt to be applauded, and also how good it felt to applaud! Then we went around in a circle and said something encouraging about the girl next to us.
