Bridget Allison

It is had greater depth than any murder or cozy series I have read and stands strong in its own right Although this is a good murder mystery my favorite part of the books is getting to know the characters and watch them interact. In fact that is my favorite part of any book and Bridget Allison does a great job of creating and letting us get to know her characters.

There are two well plotted murder mysteries including a serial murder and in both cases Gretchen is pulled into them. The second case comes closer and closer to home and the whole group of friends that she never wanted is there to stand between Gretchen and not only nightmares of the past, but possible death.

But it's the cast--all Southern women--that intrigues me. Moved more quickly and while the suspense was higher, the characters their motivations and their histories made this a stronger read.

The "who dun it aspect" was surprising but not the complete shocker the first one was. As I hoped this dis not follow a precise pattern. The cliffhanger at the end has me hooked. The gang is back and the action rolls on. Find out a little more about what makes Gretchen tick. Now waiting for 3.

With the help of local law enforcement her business quickly grows which brings her into a couple of questionable situations. She feels compelled to figure out why her employer visited a man she seemed to detest on the day that they both died. There is a secondary and sad mystery that Gretchen is cleaning up after but that one she is mostly leaving to the cops including Mr. Hunk Deputy who is just too adored by the women in town. Bridget Allison has built a community of strong and wonderful characters for us and I want to get to know them better!

She has a unique style and thought process that I hope keeps us away from the standard romantic triangle that could be forming.

It will definitely keep me coming back for more even if the two hunks both hang around for a while. This is apparently a new author. Reminds me of Janet Evanovich in humor and female sleuth motif but this is both darker and funny. The main character is flawed, complex and a survivor which is a nice change from most mysteries. I like the psychological aspects whic kept the book from feeling like a formula. The only issue I had with it was the slightly slow srart. Really glad I kept with it. I would have given it a 4 for the slow start but fell completely in love with the characters.

I almost we This is apparently a new author. I almost wet myself laughing by the time I had the background. I'm looking forward to the next book. There is some romance here, but from a comedic standpoint.

I've read mysteries all my life and the author really shows promise. I was really shocked by the end, I did not see that coming! I look forward to finishing the next. The author is very funny and I like the fact that the heroine has those McIver-like industrious qualities. I would say stick with it while the groundwork is set and then you will not put it down. When the cops get involved, Gretchen gets in the way, but helps to solve the power. Encouraged by her new friend, she also starts a new company specializing in crime-scene clean-up. And so begins a new, very enjoyable series, if you can get around all the punctuation and spelling errors. How does one get into the job of cleaning up homes after the dead are removed? Intrigued from the get-go with Bridget Allison's "Maid for Mayhem.

Did she really just chase the dog she's watching out the door in her underwear? Cue the Cute Stranger. Allison's book has the feel of Evanovich without the bad language. Recommended to readers who enjoy the Stephanie Plum character. This was an OK read, the story line was fairly interesting but couldn't keep my attention. I made it about half way through and ended up skimming the rest of the book. I doubt I will continue with this series.
