    Yet it is incredibly real at the same time, a feat few books—Christian or non-Christian—have accomplished. It portrays bluntly the true-to-life struggles of teenage friendships, church politics, and emotional conflicts and does so without any language, sensuality, or Hollywood-style fakeness. The characters also are very believable, some more godly than others but none perfect. I think Catherine Farnes just took a chunk of real life and framed it in her simple, real writing style.

    I prayed God would change my heart. The story revolves around Judith, a daring and beautiful widow, who is upset with her Jewish countrymen for not trusting God to deliver them from their foreign conquerors. Rebekah gradually learns how two different rivers play significant roles in the life of her friend, Judah, and in her own need to believe God's promises.     The Rivers of Judah is an excellent work of art, in many ways, and I recommend it to teenagers and adults alike. Young Judah gets blamed for the result of his friend's poor choice. The blame follows him and his family from Alaska to Montana to well, wherever it is they ended up. I don't recall anything in the reviews to help me to determine if this was a book that I would want to read and I'm not going to add to that either.

Rebekah loves her church and new pastor's family, but there are those who wish to stir up turmoil from within. Rebekah must fight to prevent bitterness and trust her new friends even when the going gets tough. This beautifully written, simple story encourages teens to trust in God's sovereignty.

    I was stunned that the character Judah refuses to go to a high school dance with Rebekah because he doesn't want to get involved in a scenario that might involve sensual pleasures! I loved this book in fact I read the whole series. When I read this book I felt like I could relate to Rebekah with her feeling like she was a coward for not witnessing.
