This was of course a very interesting read because of the authors experiences with these very famous men. But I also enjoyed the unexpected angle the author shared on his own quest for meaning and purpose in life.

Excellent portrayal of five extraordinary men of the 20th Century and how one man's relationship with them spanned the century. I found it more deeply discussed Carrel and Lindbergh, which wasn't as interesting to me.

Sometimes portrayed as clouded by greed or pointed to legend for one specific thing. What this work does is give life and depth into the personalities, relationships, thoughts, and lives of their families. They looked to provide a service, push the boundaries of the frontier, and leave the world in a better place than they found it. They questioned purpose, philosophy, god, religion, and everything in between.

There were a couple of times it did drag or I felt the information did not add to the story but mostly I enjoyed getting to know the personal side of the men.
These are men that I have heard about and what they did for our country and the business side of them but not the personal side. Each man was different but yet they were all alike in their desire to do This was an interesting book. It is simply a homage to the deep friendship they shared. Wilkins that the sculpture will inspire an enduring sense of appreciation by all of Fort Myers residents and visitors for the contributions made by these pioneers of industry to this community. Not surprisingly, Uncommon Friends is a popular gathering spot during River District events such as ArtFest Fort Myers , a 3-day art festival that draws more than 60, visitors to downtown Fort Myers on the first weekend in February each year.

After making his casts for each figure, Wilkins ground aluminum into a fine powder, mixed it with resins and a casting medium which he then painted on the inside of his mold. As the quarter-inch aluminum skin hardened, it bonded with the resins and casting medium, giving the shell strength and creating a surface that could be acid-etched to create intricate detailing and then polished into high sheen that emulates the look of an expensive foundry casting.
