To me the book was rushed. I did appreciate that the characters did not fornicate by chapter two but the instant attraction was a bit unbelievable and so was their interaction. For example Blake holds a secret about her live in "friend" Rube for 10 years I will not spoil the secret but suddenly decides to tell this new mysterious guy Caleb, who she is instantly attracted to, the dirt on this guy Rube who has done so much for her.
Also Caleb is supposed to be ex special forces but I guess being in love makes you a bit inept- I suppose that because the author said he was special forces we were to think that he was elite and therefore did not have to reflect that in action and thought. Last for me the resolution to the story was really abrupt.

I felt like all the suspense and action of catching the "bad guy" was pushed aside at the end so that the main characters could quickly make up. I would consider this a mediocre romance with a bit of quick action thrown in at the end rather than a true romantic suspense. I just did not see what others liked about the book. Caleb is hired by old friend Steve Peterson to keep tabs on Blake Sera, a former model, and now linked to Rube, a rather shady character.
Caleb falls for Blake, literally when he meets her on the beach in front of one Rube's properties. But things are not what they seem between Blake and Rube as Caleb soon discovers. Blake is blissfully unaware of Caleb's true reason for being with her, although she is uneasy that Rube has left. That in itself is not unusual, but the events leading up to his disappearance are.
On the whole I enjoyed the book. It is an easy read, although there are some grammatical errors - it is not 'off of' but 'off'. Also it's your conscience not conscious.
There were some misused words - you're for your, but because they weren't consistent they didn't detract too terribly much. Some things that niggled at me - Blake runs with a certain crowd and none of them really know her relationship with Rube, but she meets Caleb and spills the beans. I get falling in love my husband and I got engaged a week after meeting but for someone who has kept that specific hand of cards close to her chest, I am surprised by her candour so early in the narrative.
Also, Caleb is ex-special forces.

Not buying it - almost everyone I know doesn't sleep well when a they are in a strange place and b if they know they have to wake up for a special event.
