The appeal of connecting online is also a factor, she likes the anonymity that the internet provides and craves something she can call her This was a fascinating read, the type that explores relationships and human behavior and the reasons for our behavior. Meeting Lydia is a thought-provoking and sometimes moving account about relationships and growing old er. The M word is never far from the thoughts of Marianne, the central character. Although she is a sensible, competent woman who teaches psychology at a college she le Meeting Lydia is an exploration of women, relationships and the impact of the modern world on our lives. I particularly enjoyed the scenes between Marianne and Johnny, although like Marianne I didn't understand Johnny's actions until very near the end. Is she not beautiful or sexy enough anymore? Some might say there is more telling than showing, but they would be mistaken in judging this to be a fault.

This second edition has reworked the early chapters of the first edition, making for a pacy and shorter version more in line with the audiobook. Marianne comes home from work one day to find her husband talking to a glamorous woman in their kitchen. Old childhood insecurities resurface, stemming from a time back at school when she was bullied. Jealousy rears its head and her happy marriage begins to crumble.

Apr 03, Cherie' rated it liked it Shelves: Marianne doesn't have an ideal life, nor the ideal childhood, I did like her feistiness. The way she said it to your face, specially her husbands alleged mistress.

That part I liked and cheered her on. Marianne becomes obsessed with a online site kind of like facebook to see if she can find her childhood crush Lydia. Once she finds him she and him exchange emails over a time.
