While I have no problem with an appreciation of civil rights leaders, I do take issue with the idea of framing a history in such a bias light with no attempt to understand the full scope of events, aka the side of those who Rodriguez calls racists. All while Rodriguez is doing this, he is telling the story of Jesus Salas, who essentially was responsible for people losing their jobs due to his lack of union experience and also forced his way into a federal program that he essentially radicalized.
I'm not quite sure what it is about this guy I'm supposed to find appealing. Anyway you spin it Salas seemed to do more harm to his own cause than good. So hopefully this explains my views as to why even though I'd recommend this book to others, I believe it contains some grievous errors that made it irksome to read.
