The Forgotten Kiss (Immortyl Kisses Book 1)

He describes himself by saying: Kisses for him are like the food of life:. But he also tells how the man feels when he kisses and discovers her rejection in the same kiss:. And he also does not stop speaking about the kiss that failed:. The kiss that he craves is the greatest and most valuable sign of the love that she denies him. That is why in order to speak about his adoration for her, he speaks simply of his adoration for the kiss:. And in this tireless dream, in this permanent search for the kiss, he stops to envy the workers who return home tired and are greeted with a kiss, which alleviates and rewards them, while he, at that same hour, full of desire, does not enjoy the same fate:.

We now turn to Pablo Neruda. In his poetry the kiss also has a permanent presence, because in his poems the kiss is the best way to talk about love. Much more than any other expression of affection, kisses are the constant symbol of a love that gives meaning to to all life. It is interesting to note the beauty and variety of images that Neruda takes from nature to speak about the kiss. He gives the impression that, for him, every good thing that exists in the world is a kind of kiss:. And the pain of kisses that could not be, or that no longer are, is not lacking in his poems:.

But for Neruda, the kiss is as immortal as love, which somehow goes on eternally:. And the kiss is the end, the door, the point of arrival for the desires of a man, of all the paths of his heart:. Mario Benedetti, in his work Poems of others renders his worship to the kiss, and he shows it as the sign of consummated love, the clearest sign of love and of mutual belonging:. In order to continue motivating your kisses, I give you a few little bits of different poems, from varied authors. All of them speak of the kiss as if there were no more beautiful way to sing to love:.

But I also invite you to read some verses where it seems that the kiss is a source of pain. When it is felt that a kiss is not the reflection of a strong, sincere, respectful, and healthy love; when the other takes hold of us mercilessly. Then, the kiss becomes a hidden torment or the worst lie. For this reason, even if you live it as a necessity, or as a psychological release, it is not a true affective satisfaction:. Although we cannot stop saying that the kiss always makes us vulnerable.

Because to be authentic, the kiss requires a commitment to the other and a risk; it is much more than a touching of the flesh:. Have not saints lips, and holy palmers too? Ay, pilgrim, lips that they must use in prayer. Thus from my lips, by yours, my sin is purged. Then have my lips the sin that they have took….

Kisses and mysticism have much to do with looking. In fact, if the kiss loses its mystical undertone, the depth that lies behind the lips becomes nothing more than a boring game or a custom that has to be performed.

There have been in history those who tried to put all their depths into the kiss. For example, there are materialistic conceptions that reduce everything to a single cause: This is the case for Sigmund Freud, who reduces every affective inclination to sexual attraction; as if all feeling, all desire and all attraction were just sex in disguise or looking for sex; both the love of friends, the affection of fathers and sons, etc. Then the kiss would be no more than the first step that starts looking for more, until reaching the sexual act; and man would function the same as certain animals, like pigeons, who perform the sexual act immediately after kissing.

But this way of thinking, carried to the extreme, is not characteristic among the followers of Freud, but among the Jansenists, disciples of a certain Jansen. And these Jansenists came to put forward as an example of great perfection the case of St. But there is a difference between Freud and the Jansenists: And, of course, we cannot agree with the Jansenists, who are so morbid and distrustful. However, there is something that Freud perhaps did not take into account: A society where everyone seeks to have sex with many people, including their parents or children, would be total chaos.

Sex is not just the satisfaction of a primal necessity; it is also the expression of a love and a total surrender to the other, which requires exclusivity and mutual belonging. And for the same reason, we could grant to Freud a certain realism: In the twelfth century, St. Aelred said that a kiss in the mouth can be given to anyone, provided that there is a worthy motive: But if one notices that he does it to satisfy a passion, he can no longer give it to anyone, because it would no longer fulfill its noble function Spiritual friendship , 67— Because deep down, the one who knows how to kiss like that also knows that what could come after is not more than the kiss, since a kiss can be the most sublime and wonderful expression of love.

Moreover, for many, the kiss may be the deepest need of their soul:. The great desire of the heart in love is to get a kiss, as though in the kiss what he is seeking is fulfilled:. Because they understand this, many prostitutes lend themselves to all kinds of sex play, but they do not let themselves be kissed by anyone. However, for Freud and the Jansenists, the kiss is something completely secondary, and it hides the most important thing, what comes afterwards.

Just remember that many couples break up because they have always directly sought the sexual act without dedicating a good amount of time to cultivating the sublime art that sustains love: Beyond seeking what the poets say, I wanted to ask on the street what they think about the kiss.

So I went to bars, colleges, businesses, in order to ask young people about what they knew to say about kissing. I collected varied opinions about what a kiss means for them, about the different ways of kissing, etc. Some of them showed much interest in the subject and wrote very beautiful things; others simply summarized everything in a phrase; others taught me practical things.

Your browser is way past its prime.

In total, the survey covered about a thousand people, but I only write down a few opinions:. To be sure, there are kisses of every kind, for every moment, for every circumstance. The kiss of a mother of her newborn son, a kiss of a mother when she forgives her naughty son, the kiss of a teenager when he brings back a good report card, the kiss of a son who just got married. The kiss between brothers.

The kiss of an awaited letter. The kiss of a crucifix, of a holy card, of an image of the Virgin. The kiss of the priest of the altar, of the Bible, of the sacred vestments. The first kiss of lovers. He bent back her head across his arm and kissed her, softly at first, and then with a swift gradation of intensity that made her cling to him as the only solid thing in a dizzy swaying world.

His insistent mouth was parting her shaking lips, sending wild tremors along her nerves, evoking from her sensations she had never known she was capable of feeling. And before a swimming giddiness spun her round and round, she knew that she was kissing him back. He pressed her head back hard against his shoulder and she had a dizzy glimpse of his face. His eyes were wide and blazing queerly and the tremor in his arms frightened her. I will make you faint. Gentlemen all—what do they know about women? What did they know about you?

One of the best things about being a romance novelist is that you have free licence to daydream about kissing — a lot. My absolute favourite part of writing a novel is putting on paper the first kiss. Usually, as in my latest novel Legacy , I build up to it slowly: Before she knew it, he had taken her in his arms, his mouth closing over hers with all the pent-up fire that had burnt them both since they had first met.

Sweet, kind, and a great love interest for Winter. Their romance was absolutely adorable! Jun 04, Marissa Marzano rated it really liked it. I came along this book by accident, made the choice to randomly go to the library one day and this is what i picked up. I have this routine, that when i pick up a book, i'll read the first chapter, and if i like it, i'll continue reading.

This was definately one of those books! I love the fact that they based it on a girl who likes a different kind of music, and whose family is based in a different decade. I thought that brought a whole different level to the book. As materialistic as some of thi I came along this book by accident, made the choice to randomly go to the library one day and this is what i picked up. As materialistic as some of this may seem, i really think it does differ from some other teen drama novels for the simple fact that this book is based on the revenge from a friendship, not over a guy. Even though, like any teenage novel, boy drama is of course evident, but to me, it doesn't take over the story line as much as some other novels.

It's all about holding a grudge and stopping at nothing until you are satisfied with the revenge you have tried to gain. I think if your anything like me, and have the constant need to only read teen dramas, but are just looking for that slight difference, this is the book for you. I just can't stand this book. I now this is just a very short review but Read it and decide for yourselves. Thus, they spend their summer researching fashion tips, cheer-leading moves, and general personality characteristics that lend themselves to easy teenage popularity.

After a new wardrobe, new hair colors, and countless hours of emulating moves from higher places on the social ladder, Sloane and Winter know they are ready for the A-list crowd at school Except, things don't quite work out like the girls planned. While Sloane has the hair flipping, eye batting, and girly giggling down to a science, Winter feels awkward and uncomfortable around the popular kids, still finding cheer-leading and teeny-bop fashion to be laughable, at best. Sloane is part of the A-list crowd right away, but Winter just doesn't mesh with the crowd, finding herself to be the laughing stock of the cool kids once again.

And now, Sloane is mocking her too, it seems. Hurt and angry from the blatant betrayal by her former best friend, Winter takes out her aggressions through her new blog, a quirky series of entries by a character, Eleanor Rigsby, that semi-anonymously spill each and every one of Sloane's dirty little secrets, accumulated after years of friendship. Winter doesn't expect that anyone will really see her rantings, but it ends up being a fun way to release her hostilities, even if it ends up being a secret kind of revenge.

Soon, though, the secret gets out, and everyone knows about Eleanor Rigsby and her hilarious reports of Princess Pink and her diva squad. But, is Winter really as anonymous as she thinks? And, is she willing to let her bitterness over a failed friendship overshadow a possibility for a chance at love?

Kiss of A Demon King

I was a little worried when things started gearing up for a cliche love triangle, but the situation was quickly diffused. And yeah, the characters were catty and bitchy and ridiculously mean, but that was part of the fun. It's not War and Peace, but nobody picks up a book like this expecting a classic.

Maybe it will be your next guilty pleasure, too! Sep 01, Sara rated it did not like it Recommends it for: This book wasn't the worst book I've ever read, but I'm still surprised that I got through about half of it before tossing it aside. I can't remember where I heard about the author; her most recent book sounded interesting, but the library didn't have that one, so I picked this up instead. It was quite a let down.

Cyber-bullying - very timely. Unfortunately, the execution of this idea wasn't as good as it should have been. It takes quite a while for the actual blogging to start, and then other people at school find out about the blog completely randomly, saying something like, "Oh I just found this cool new blog yesterday! Furthermore, their friendship seemed, from the beginning, like it was based on history together rather than actual continuing friendship.

Winter is a little irritating, and they all talk like a stereotypical girl from Laguna Beach would, despite the fact that Winter says living there is nothing like life on the show Laguna Beach. Anyway, I gave up with this one. There are so many good teen books out there, but unfortunately this isn't one of them. Even if you're looking for total escapist fare, you could do better. Dec 26, Lexine Garcia rated it liked it. I really didn't enjoy reading this book but hey it's kinda intriguing and well i'm a teenager so i can relate to the story.

First time to read a Alyson noel book, I'm not saying I don't like it but it lacks something. I think the ending is cliffhanger to me, because Winter as the lead of the story just stop writing about her ex-friend which is Sloane who was Winter's blogging about all of her secrets. Well I don't blame Winter because Sloane is a bitch coz she ditched Winter just to be popular. Like she didn't mean anything to her, they're like sisters and everything then just like that she just let her go because of popularity.

I hate the fact that Sloane didn't think about Winter, like if she's okay by herself but no she didn't think of her because she's enjoying her new clan. I hate to break it but Sloane is so not a good friend though Winter did such a bad thing by blogging her secrets but she always want to make it up to her, and she feels sorry for what she has done coz she knows she is wrong.

This is definitely one of Alyson Noel's best works. I have read more then one or two of her books and she has never disappointed yet. She is definitely not only one of my favorite authors but I love reading her books again and again.

Though she unlike some other authors, give such subtle hints to outcomes when they happen you cannot help but be overcome with joy at what happens to these lovable characters. When I first saw this book I thought it would be much different from what it actually was. I believed that Winter would either become a sell-out or a popular kid just like Sloane, instead she stayed true to who she was and that was one thing that in real life does actually sometimes happen, her books are not like most others when they always end happy, everyone is friends again, and everything ends in the perfect way, instead she tells it like it is, the way that things can happen in life and most of the time they do happen.

She is a breath a fresh air to the world of superficial bimbo's, she writes about how they aren't perfect and that behind their fake smiles the really are the horrid people everyone else sees them to be. She had no spine, no personality, was unnecessarily snarky and mean to her little sister for no reason at all.

As far as I'm concerned she was just as bad, vindictive and bitchy as Sloane--she just didn't get to that point in the social ladder, or i'm pretty sure she would've been a Sloane clone. The only thing going on here was that there wasn't an insta love scene—which, I am very, very grateful for. The only reason I read this was because I once read a fanfiction that was inspired by this novel, so I may have been misguided a little.

But that fanfic was so awesome that I had to read where it was originated. So if you're looking for a quirky, original, ass-kicking heroin, this would so disappoint you. May 23, Reut rated it did not like it. I'm trying to re-read Alyson Noel's Immortals series, so I figured I might pick up one of here standalone contemporary novels beforehand. I was dismally disappointed. Winter, the main character, is one of the whiniest, most obnoxious, positively un likeable characters ever.

She yells at perfectly nice people, tells secrets, is a cheater, and basically is the type of girl I would not touch with a foot pole at my school. I would never ever want to know a girl like Winter. The best part of this boo I'm trying to re-read Alyson Noel's Immortals series, so I figured I might pick up one of here standalone contemporary novels beforehand.

The best part of this book is the blog itself, because even though it was mean hearted in nature, I admit it was still fun to read. I really don't have anything else good to say, so I'm going to stop here. Dec 24, Nanna rated it it was ok. So I really like Noel for the Immortal series that I wanted to check out her other books. I was really surprised when I read a blog update. The secrets are so funny, and jaw dropping and unbelieveably true!
