Owning a TV or radio should not imply any obligation to pay money to any third party to watch it. Some days ago, I have received a letter from "vollziehungsbeamter als gerichsvollzieher Amtsgericht", also addressed to my wife, that I have to pay some euros until next week in his office in cash, or bank transfer.

He also mentions that I have to call him to arrange if I can not pay in time. Moreover, the letter mentions if I fail to pay then what I understood he will send a debt collector. My wife is on holidays since the beginning of the month and I will join them in 2 weeks for vacation until the end of the year. Honestly I do not see why people have to pay this.

On top, i have heard there is nothing worht watching for young adults on German channels. I have a TV bought couple of months ago for gaming purposes. So please let me know from your experience what should I do, and what can happen in case i disregarded this letter. This is not running away from payment of duties, but its a matter of concept. I want to pay for stuff that I use, or bring benefits to a community, society, group, etc Not by force for something which has no use to me and doesn't add any positive thing.

When the debt collector comes to your door you can either not answer, or if you do answer, simply tell him that you are not prepared to pay. He will accept this and quietly leave. Some time later your bank account will have the amount deducted, or Note that in both these two cases you will end up paying.

If you object to the TV fee on moral principle, then option 2 is preferable even if you end up paying extra for the collection fee. There are no other dangers involved.
