Aggressive offenders cognition: Theory research and practice

What works in interventions with offenders? Cognitive-behavioural interventions for offending behavior. Treatment of sexual offending. Treatment of violent behaviour. Treatment of adjustment difficulties and psychological disturbance in institutional contexts. Risk assessment, management and intervening with different offender groups e.

Treatment issues in relation to psychopathy and personality disorders. Treatment and management of offenders in the community. On completion of this module students should be able to describe and discuss:.

Lectures with discussion and exercises. Team seminars involving preparation and presentations by group members. Directed, independent and private study to support and build upon the above.

INTERVENTION WITH OFFENDERS

Assessment includes formulating action plans from case material, with supporting notes, based upon relevant literature; this is intended to encourage the linking of theory with practice whilst accessing and drawing ideas from published work.
