Skins: The Novel (Skins series Book 1)

Also, I didn't like Effie's point of view. I don't really like her in the series either, but definitely prefer her mind to stay a mystery. She was just a selfish person, someone that I really didn't think deserved Freddie. However, the other characters in the book were fine, Emily and Cookie standing out the best, and of course my favourite, Freddie.

Just this year, Fullybooked was on sale so I went, while looking through books, I found this.

And to be honest, I was shock and at the same time happy. You can hear them in your head.

Panda, for example, is exactly the same Pandora in the series; same way they speak and they construct their sentences, so English. I gave it a three star because well, the ending left me hanging. So, I did not have massive expectations for skins: The diologe was well done. The characters were alot like they were in the series with the exception of Effy, but she was close enough.

This was no master piece, but it was a nice quick read and I had alot of fun with it. Mar 12, Keixie Pallagud rated it really liked it.

Skins: the Novel

The novel was everything I expected it to be. Having a dysfunctional life myself, I found myself relating to most of the characters. I loved Effy here. Effy is, well, Effy. The course of their lives in the novel is enchanting in a messed up teenage way. The secrets and the lies and the hurt and the sexuality and sex itself. All of these mixed with anger and love and passion. Everything in a novel. Going to look out for another one of these babies soon. Oct 08, Chippy Marco rated it did not like it Shelves: Seriously, this is what they put out after that great series? I didn't even finish this it was so boring.

R18, you've got to be joking. Just because it's got swearwords and some lame sex scenes doesn't make it R I'm not going to say anymore, because I wasted my money, so it doesn't deserve a real review. Jul 17, Jas rated it really liked it. I really enjoyed reading it. Sure, some of the plot lines are a bit wacky, but it's quick and easily read and definitely worth it. Read this in Skins Season are my favorites, and should I say, I really like "Naomily", and in here there are plenty of scenes with them both.

May 22, Sherlai rated it liked it Shelves: Skins is one of the best series ever. Argue me on this if you wish to end up with a broken ribcage. Every character together with their fucked-up life is just so dear to me. In fact, they're so close to my heart that I couldn't bring myself to get mad at their life altering screw ups.

Instead, I want to hug them tight and whisper: It's gonna be okay. I j Skins is one of the best series ever. I just knew I had to read it. It was mediocre at best but the startling thing is, you could really imagine the characters saying those things out loud. And the grammar fitted the characters because you'd know that's how a certain character would speak.

It amazed me how the author was able to capture their voices and write them down and not make them any less vibrant.

The only thing that bothered me was: I mean, sure she's way up on the list of my fave characters but-- I just don't think this novel did her justice even though the whole novel kind of revolved around her. Effy is a strong mysterious character with deep thoughts. Deep dark thoughts that was expressed in vague ways. Effy in TV show form doesn't speak that much so, it was kind of weird to see her or rather know that she was speaking all the time.

Maybe Effy isn't meant to be written. Unless you can justify her existence in a novelized version. I read the whole thing with a british accent in my head. Mar 18, Melysah Bunting rated it really liked it. I just finished Skins Skins 1 by Ali Cronin.

It's a novel based on the TV series of seasons three and four. It follows the gang of eight friends in the UK. It's teen angst at it's best. It's not necessary to see the show to enjoy the novel. But I highly recommend seeing the TV show too. It's my favorite cast of characters.

There's Freddy the more level headed one , Cook the crazy one , JJ the smart one with mental issues , Emily and Naomi the gay couple , Katie Emily's twin sister with an attitude , Pandora the fun-loving one and Effy the alpha female.

The novel takes you through the college summer break. So if you watch Skins season 3, read the book, and then watch season 4 I think it'll make more sense. I watched season three and four and then read the book which made it out of order of sorts based on the ending of the TV show. It's definitely not a book everyone will enjoy. There's lots of sex, drugs, angst and other typical teen behavior.

It's an emotional roller coaster. I thought the book captured the characters quite well. It was a dead-on fit from the characters in the show. The book's pace was good.

Skins The Novel

I have no complaints. As all good things, I just wish it didn't end. The new Skins novel just came out, but it's by a different author. It's also about another cast of characters. Don't know if I'll read it. The season five of Skins wasn't my favorite. Oct 14, Macy rated it it was amazing Recommends it for: Skins will always and forever be my favorite TV series.

Although I'd rather read a book about gen 1, I was excited for this novel. Not to mention that I'm not really sure the author got Effy. It came in perfect condition and for anyone who's a fan of the show and those particular seasons, it's definitely worth a read! For me, I loved skins series 3.
