I loved this book! It had everything I love: The author did an excellent job of intertwining all aspects to keep the story moving forward. The characters were developed just enough to make you want to follow them into the next stage of their life. I would love to see a sequel to this to learn more about the relationships of the characters and what happens next in their lives.
It would be fun to learn what happens to the treasure and the mysteries surrounding it. Is the truth ever learned about the land that was taken? What happened to the Golden Circle?
What happened to the senator? Does the professor feel differently now that his sister's murder has been found? What does Sean do next? I am definitely recommending this book to my book club. I liked this book.. The characters were well-written and the author kept a good pace going throughout the book.
The historical angle made it very interesting. Overall I would recommend this book to others. This is an excellent book and very hard to put down. For those who enjoy history as well as good mystery, you will get it here.

McKinsey will find another venue for the book's main characters, Sean Johnson and Kim Poole, two intelligent, resourceful people determined to solve a family puzzle going back to the Civil War. I knew there were rumors regarding the secret, but this author includes some very intriguing, unique ideas into the story. This book was awesome, the subject matter was new to me, the story kept me turning pages, ok, hitting next page on kindle.
The story flowed well with plenty of suspense and them wondering what would happen next!

A must read for all Americans and history buffs! I was lucky enough to attend a small school where teachers and students were given the opportunity to become well acquainted with each other. The author of this novel was my 8th grade social studies teacher, whom I greatly respected and admired.
When I learned that he was writing a novel, I was immediately intrigued! This novel is very well written and conceived. Although I have only a passing interest in history, I found the story engaging and interesting. The pace is deliberately slow and detail-oriented when it needs to focus on key elements in the plot, and quick when a sense of urgency is required. I found myself reading these suspenseful moments in the book quickly, eager to read what would happen next as the events played out in my head.
I would recommend this book to lovers of historical fiction and Lincoln enthusiasts. As an avid reader and history buff, I couldn't put this book down. The line between fact and fiction is barely discernable!! I love this book and would recommend it to anyone! See all 6 reviews.
