Sep 09, Jason Crawford rated it really liked it. This is a great little story to help small kids understand that they are in control of their emotions.

It focuses on the ownership of feelings and emotions and taking command of the situation, instead of letting things "happen" to you. Jun 19, Eve Costarelli rated it it was amazing Shelves: This is a very well-crafted relaxation story that takes you, step-by-step, through active progressive muscular relaxation meditation. The story pays special attention to bringing attention to feelings and sensations and it highlights important concepts such as self-reflection, body awareness and cooperation. This is a great book to read aloud to your own children as well as any children you have the opportunity to read to!

It makes a great addition to a yoga class or a bedtime ritual and school This is a very well-crafted relaxation story that takes you, step-by-step, through active progressive muscular relaxation meditation. It makes a great addition to a yoga class or a bedtime ritual and school teachers could use it to help their students relax. The sea creatures are adorable and I love the brightly colored palette and the blurred background lends to the feeling of being under the sea.

This book pairs perfectly with Angry Octopus: Together, they pack a power punch and are great books to help children to enjoy being calm and aware.

Sep 23, Erin rated it it was amazing Shelves: My son adores this book about dealing with anger and upset feelings, and it makes an excellent bedtime story as it guides children through physical relaxation and deep breathing. The illustrations don't exactly rock my world, but if the kids love it that's good enough for me!

I have actually purchased several copies of the Boy and The Bear, The Boy and the Turtle and Angry Octopus, so that our traveling therapists can also have a copy to take with them on home visits. Next we introduce the Boy and The Turtle which promotes relaxation through visualization.

We often pair this with having the parents massage or give deep but gentle pressure to the body part that is being highlighted in the story. The Angry Octopus is a great way for children to learn about positive ways to deal with anger and frustration. An added benefit is that the adult reading the stories or listening to the CD with their child will also feel more calm and relaxed! I was very disappointed in this book. It's seems more like someone's personal craft project at home, the writing was a little boring and the illustrations were so elementary.

Each page on the right is a color of the rainbow with white text. When you get to the yellow page you barely can make anything of the text out because of the little contrast. I want to ask did anyone edit or review a proof of this book before it went to print.

It really seemed like a happy hands at home project. A down to earth book for children who've suffered death of a patent, etc. It's well written and explained. Kindle Edition Verified Purchase. Very nice if you want to calm down and relax. I recommend it to people who are stressed out and have trouble falling asleep.

Within a few pages my son exhaled and i thought this book would be helpful but he quickly caught on, decided he had no interest in a book about rainbows, and frankly hates it. See all 36 reviews.
